Kharovsk

a city (since 1954) and administrative center of Kharovsk Raion, Vologda Oblast, RSFSR. Kharovsk is situated on the Kubena River, which empties into Lake Kubenskoe. It has a railroad station on the Vologda-Konosha line, 89 km north of Vologda. Enterprises in the city include a sawmill combine, the Muzlesdrev Timber Mill, a plant for the production of rail road sleepers, and a glassworks. Kharovsk has a museum of local lore.
