Kharijah
an oasis in the Libyan Desert in Egypt, in the muhafazah of New Valley. Extends for almost 150 km from north to south. Population, approximately 17,000 (1970). The oasis’ administrative center is the city of al-Kharijah. The oasis is linked by highway and a narrow-gauge railroad branch line with the Nile Valley. Date palms, olives, rice, and barley are cultivated in the oasis.
