Kharaulakh Range

Kharaulakh Range

a mountain range in the northern part of the Yakut ASSR, along the right bank of the Lena River; part of the Verkhoiansk Range. The Kharaulakh Range measures 350 km in length and rises to a maximum elevation of 1,429 m. Two other ridges extend parallel to the main range: the Tuora-Sie Range, extending west, and the Primor’e Ridge, extending east.

The Kharaulakh Range is composed of sandstones, argillites, and clay shales. It is deeply dissected by tributaries of the Lena. Mountain-tundra vegetation predominates, with sparse larch forests growing in the valleys of the western region.
