Khadzhi Dimitur
(real name, Dimitur Nikolov Asenov). Born May 10, 1840, in Sliven; died July 18, 1868, near Buzludzha). Participant in the national liberation struggle of the Bulgarian people against the Ottoman yoke.
Khadzhi Dimitur was the son of a craftsman. In 1867 he joined the Bulgarian Legion. In June 1868, together with S. T. Karadzha, Khadzhi Dimitur assumed the leadership of a cheta (partisan unit) that was created in Rumania with funds provided by Bulgarian revolutionary émigrés. On July 6 the cheta crossed the Danube. After a number of clashes with Turkish forces, however, it was routed, and Khadzhi Dimitur was killed.
