Negative Volume Index
Negative Volume IndexIn technical analysis, a measure of change in various market indicators on days when trading volume is low. The idea behind the NVI is that intelligent investors quietly buy or sell securities ahead of the trend, and that the crowd buys or sells only on days when trading volume is high. Tracking whether a market or security is bullish or bearish when trading volume is low is thought to be a lead indicator of a market's general direction.
