Malaia Kokshaga

a river in Mari ASSR, a left tributary of the Volga, flowing into the Kuibyshev Reservoir. Length, 194 km; basin area, 5,160 sq km. The channel meanders, and there are many old beds on the floodplain. The river is fed primarily by snow. Average annual water flow is approximately 30 cu m per sec. The Malaia Kokshaga freezes in November, thawing in April. The city of Ioshkar-Ola is on the river.
