Mys Shmidta

an urban-type settlement; the center of Shmidtovskii Raion, Chukchi National Okrug, Magadan Oblast, RSFSR. It is located on the Chukchi Sea. A station for ionospheric research and a radiometeorological center are located in Mys Shmidta. The settlement was named in honor of O. Iu. Shmidt.
