NOTAMs

A notice distributed by means of telecommunications containing information concerning the establishment, condition, or change in any aeronautical facility, service, procedure, or hazard. Timely distribution of this knowledge is essential to personnel concerned with flight operations. NOTAM information could affect a pilot's decision to make a flight. It includes airport or primary runway closures, changes in the status of navigational aids, ILSs (instrument landing systems), radar service availability, and other information essential to planned en route, terminal, or landing operations. Class I NOTAMs are distributed by means of telecommunications, whereas Class II are distributed by means other than telecommunications.
