释义 | Johnson, Eldridge ReevesJohnson, Eldridge Reeves(1867–1945) inventor, business executive; born in Wilmington, Del. He was apprenticed to a machinist in Philadelphia. Following a trip out West, he developed a spring-driven motor for the gramophone (1896) and founded the Victor Talking Machine Company (1901). His advertising trademark, "His Master's Voice." became famous worldwide. His company's fortunes declined during the 1920s; in 1927, Victor was merged with the Radio Corporation of America. He gave generously to the University of Pennsylvania. |
