isothermal equilibrium

isothermal equilibrium

[¦ī·sə¦thər·məl ‚ē·kwə′lib·rē·əm] (meteorology) The state of an atmosphere at rest, uninfluenced by any external agency, in which the conduction of heat from one part to another has produced, after a sufficient length of time, a uniform temperature throughout its entire mass. Also known as conductive equilibrium. (thermodynamics) The condition in which two or more systems are at the same temperature, so that no heat flows between them.
