Karmadon

a balneological health resort in the Severnaia Osetiia ASSR, 35 km southwest of Ordzhonikidze, at an elevation of 1, 500 m (Nizhnii Karmadon) and 2, 300 m (Verkhnii Karmadon). The warmest month is August (average temperature, 16.9°C); the coldest is January ( —4.4°C). Annual precipitation is about 500 mm. The cures used at the resort are provided by about 80 hot (35°-58°C) and cold (18°C) mineral springs, whose waters are used for bathing and drinking and are also bottled.
