Synonym(s): acute glaucoma, closed-angle glaucoma, narrow-angle glaucomaan·gle-clo·sure glau·co·ma (ang'gĕl-klō'zhŭr glaw-kō'mă) Primary glaucoma in which contact of the iris with the peripheral cornea excludes aqueous humor from the trabecular drainage meshwork; may develop in either eye or both. Synonym(s): narrow-angle glaucoma. angle-closure glaucoma An acute or subacute condition of raised pressure within the eye due to an obstruction to the normal outflow of aqueous humour from the eye. This may be due to structural factors such as undue narrowness of the angle between the back of the cornea and the iris or to inflammatory adhesions. The condition can usually be corrected by an operation to make a small opening in the periphery of the iris (a peripheral iridectomy or iridotomy).
