Karlygan
a mountain range of the Zapadnyi Saian, in Kras-noiarsk Krai, RSFSR; it forms the watershed of the Bol’shoi andMalyi Abakan rivers. Length, about 100 km; elevations, 2,500–2, 700 m in the south and 1,200–1, 500 m in the north. Therange is composed of metamorphic schist and granite and isdissected by deep, narrow river valleys. Dark coniferous fir, cedar, and spruce taiga predominates on the slopes. Above1, 800–2, 000 m there are mountain tundras, rock streams, and(in the south) rocky peaks.
