Ipatii Monastery

 

a Russian architectural monument of the 16th and 17th centuries in Kostroma. It was founded around 1330 by a forefather of the Godunov family, Murza Chet, after he converted to Christianity. On Mar. 14, 1613, representatives of the Zemskii Sobor (National Assembly) went to Ipatii Monastery to inform Mikhail Fedorovich Romanov, who was living there, of his election as tsar.
