Jin Shin Acutouch

Jin Shin Acutouch

Bodywork
A proprietary form of therapeutic touch developed in the 1970s by an American asthmatic, B Clark, which is intended to stimulate the flow of vital life energy through the body. The technique combines elements of breath therapy, qigong, kung fu, meditation and Taoist yoga, with nutritional support using vitamins and herbs to form a complete health system (reflecting the translation of the term Jin Shin Acutouch—“compassionate spirit penetration through touch”). In this system, 26 pressure points (energy centres or keys of the body) are recognised, based on Clark’s observation of the places people touch when they are in pain.
