June Strike 1918

in Rumania, a strike of the Rumanian revolutionary proletariat on June 7–14, 1918, that seized the major areas of the country not under German occupation. The strike was started by railroad workers of Pa§cani, Bacău, and other centers of Moldavia. The strike was a manifestation of the workers’ opposition to the war and the monarchy. The strike ended with the satisfaction of the major demands of the workers: restoration of the workers’ trade unions, recognition of strike committees, and the abolition of the military regime on the railroads.
