Kerintji

Kerintji

 

(Indrapura), a volcano in Indonesia, located in the Barisan Range; the highest point on the island of Sumatra (3,800 m).

Kerintji is composed primarily of andesite lavas. The width of its base ranges from 13 to 25 km. The diameter of its crater is about 600 m, and its depth reaches 400 m. There is a lake in the crater. Kerintji last erupted in 1938.
