Location:In New Hampshire, 30 miles west of Concord.
Facilities:Trail, historic features.
Activities:Educational programs, hiking, wildlife watching.
Special Features:Occupies the estate of John Hay, personal secretary to President Abraham Lincoln and Secretary of State under presidents William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt. The historic buildings, grounds, and gardens, known as "The Fells," are managed through an agreement with the Friends of John Hay NWR.
Habitats: 164 acres of forested hardwood uplands scattered with stands of white and red pine, hemlock, and spruce.
Access: Trail is available for public use.
Wild life: Migratory birds, white-tailed deer, black bear, ruffed grouse, and pileated woodpeckers.
