(ˈdʒʌnə ˈsʌŋɡ) n (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) a political party in India from 1951 to 1977; in 1977 it merged with several other parties to form the Janata Party. After the Janata Party split in 1980, it re-formed as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) [Hindi, literally: people's party]
