Iuzhnyi Aniui

 

a mountain range in northeastern Siberia, in the interfluve of the Bol’shoi Aniui and Malyi Aniui rivers, both tributaries of the Kolyma, in Magadan Oblast, RSFSR. The Iuzhnyi Aniui measures about 380 km in length and rises to an elevation of 1,775 m at Sovetskaia Gvardiia Peak. It is composed of Upper Jurassic and Triassic sandstones, shales, and argillites intruded by granites. There are traces of ancient glaciation. The slopes are covered with tundra vegetation. Open larch woodlands are found along the river valleys. Rocky alpine tundra is found on the summits.
