Iskanderkul
Iskanderkul’
a mountain lake on the northern slopes of the Gissar Range in the Tadzhik SSR. Situated at an altitude of 2,195 m, the lake has an area of 3.4 sq km and a maximum depth of 72 m. It is dammed by a moraine that has been covered over by a landslide. Among the rivers that discharge into the lake are the Sarytag and Khazormech. It is drained by the Iskanderdar’ia River. The Iskanderkul’ is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the USSR and is a tourist site.
