Inyl’chektau

(also Inyl’chek), a mountain range in the Central Tien-Shan, in the basin of the left-bank tributaries of the Sarydzhaz River, extending sublatidudinally between Inyl’chek and Kaindy valleys (with the Inyl’chek and Kaindy glaciers and rivers), in the Kirghiz SSR. It measures about 65 km long and reaches an elevation of 5,697 m. Composed of metamorphic slate and limestone, it is covered with perennial snow and glaciers. The slopes are characterized by cliffs and taluses. At the western foot of the range there is a high-altitude semidesert.
