Kandil’-Kitaika

 

a variety of late winter apples, producedby I. V. Michurinyi by crossing the Kitaika, or Chinese apple, with the cultivated variety Kandil’-Sinap. The apples are medium-sized (120–170 g), elongated, and conic. They are yellowishgreen with a slight bloom. The pulp is greenish, thick, juicy, andtender, with a sweet vinous taste. These apples are eaten freshand are also used for making jam. They are harvested in lateSeptember and are stored until April or May. The tree is ofaverage height. Each tree yields at least 50 kg of fruit. Thisvariety grows in the Ukrainian SSR, Kazakh SSR, and Kirghiz SSR.
