Jajce

 

a city in Yugoslavia, in the Socialist Republic of Bosnia-Hercegovina, on the Vrbas River, near its confluence with the Pliva. Population, 8,500 (1976). A hydroelectric system is situated on the Pliva River. Jajce also has an electrochemical plant and an enterprise for the production of ferroalloys. The city’s Museum of the National-Liberation Struggle is housed in the building in which the second session of the Antifascist National-Liberation Council of Yugoslavia took place on Nov. 29–30, 1943.
