Kazandzhik

 

a city (settlement until 1939), the center of Kazandzhik Raion, Krasnovodsk Oblast, Turkmen SSR, in the northwestern spurs of the Kopetdag mountain range. It is a railroad station on the Ashkhabad-Krasnovodsk line, 292 km northwest of Ashkhabad. Population, 10,000 (1970). Industry includes railroad enterprises, a brickyard, and a carpet factory. The city was founded in 1895 in connection with the construction of the railroad.
