Kaspi

 

a city (until 1959, a settlement) and center of Kaspi Raion, Georgian SSR, located on the left bank of the Kura River at its confluence with the Lekhura. Population, 12, 000 (1970).

Kaspi is a railroad station on the Tbilisi-Samtredia line, 48 km southwest of Tbilisi. The city has a building-materials industry (production of cement, slate) and plants producing electrical equipment (Elektroapparat), fruit and berry wines, and canned goods. Kaspi also has an industrial technicum and a museum of local lore.
