Jagga
(Wadschagga, Chagga), a people in Tanzania who live on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Population, about 500,000 (estimate, 1967). The language of the Jagga is kijagga, which is in the eastern group of the Bantu family. The majority of the Jagga continue in the ancient traditional beliefs; some are Christians. Their basic occupations are agriculture (manioc, corn, and vegetables) and work on coffee plantations.
