Johannard, Jules Paul
Born Jan. 22, 1843, in Beaune, department of Côte d’Or; died late November 1892, in London. Figure of the French and international socialist movement. Communard.
Johannard was a member of the General Council of the First International and corresponding secretary for Italy in 1868–69. In 1870 he became a member of the Federal Council of the Parisian sections. He was a member of the Paris Commune of 1871. After the defeat of the Commune he emigrated to Great Britain. He was co-opted to the General Council of the Inter-national in 1871. Johannard supported K. Marx in his struggle against the Bakuninists. He participated in the congress of the International at The Hague in 1872.
