Kamyshovyi Range

 

the main dividing range of the Western Sakhalin Mountains on Sakhalin Island. Length, 400 km;elevations, 500–1,000 m; maximum elevation, 1, 325 m (MountVozvrashchenie). The continuation of the Kamyshovyi Range tothe south of the Poiasok Isthmus (220 km long) is called the Iuzhno-Kamyshovyi Range. The range is composed of coal-bearing shale-sandstone rock, predominantly of the Cretaceousperiod, crushed into folds. On the slopes is a spruce-fir taiga with dense thickets of Kuril bamboo. The Iuzhno-Sakhalinsk-Kholmsk railroad line has been built across the Iuzhno-Ka-myshovyi Range.
