KDM1B KDM1B A gene on chromosome 6p22.3 that encodes a demethylase which acts on histone H3, a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional activation. KDM1B is required for de novo DNA methylation of a subset of imprinted genes during oogenesis; it acts by oxidising the substrate by flavin-containing amine oxidase domain (FAD)-containing protein 1 to generate the corresponding imine, which is subsequently hydrolysed. |
