Jochi Khanate
Jochi Khanate
the allotment inherited by Jochi and his house according to the division of 1224 made by Genghis Khan. It included the lands between the Irtysh and Ural rivers and extended to the west “as far as the hoofs of the Mongol horses would go.” To the south, it bordered the Jagatai (Chaghatai) Khanate. As a result of Baty’s campaigns of conquest into Eastern Europe, the territory of the Jochi Khanate grew considerably; by the mid-13th century it had achieved de facto independence from the Mongol state.
