Jobs, Steven (Paul)(1955– ) computer engineer, entrepreneur; born in Los Altos, Calif. Educated at Reed College (Portland, Ore.) in the early 1970s, he and Stephen Wozniak built their own microcomputers in a garage. By the mid-1970s, they had built the first Apple I. In 1976–77, they formed Apple Computer Company, with Jobs as chairman. The company did phenomenally well, introducing a succession of increasingly more sophisticated McIntosh computers known for their "user-friendliness."
