A formulation of concentrated antibodies–aka immune globulins, predominantly IgG, prepared by pooling plasma from ±1000 donors, with a broad spectrum of activity against CMV, HAV, HBV, measles, rubella, tetanus, varicella zoster Indications LBW children with repeated infections, children with defects in humoral immune responses–eg, AIDS, X-linked agammaglobulinemia, CVID; IVIG may be of use in ITP, autoimmune phenomena–hemolysis, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, Kawasaki's disease Adverse effects Pyrogenic, hypersensitivity, anaphylaxis, systemic–eg, headache, myalgia, fever, vasomotor and cardiovascular abnormalities, BP lability, tachycardia.
