Kasakh

 

(also Aparanchai), a river in the Armenian SSR, a left tributary of the Sevdzhur (Araks basin). Length, 89 km; basinarea, 1, 480 sq km. It rises on the northern slope of Mount Aragats and flows primarily through its eastern foothills. The river is used extensively for irrigation. The Aparan Reservoir islocated in the upper reaches of the Kasakh, and the city of Ashtarak is situated on the river.
