Karyorrhexis
karyorrhexis[‚kar·ē·ə′rek·səs] (cell and molecular biology) Fragmentation of a nucleus with scattering of the pieces in the cytoplasm. Karyorrhexis the breakdown of a cell nucleus into parts; one of the intermediate stages of necrobiosis (after karyopyknosis and before karyolysis) that precedes the death of a cell. The nuclear membrane is destroyed and the nucleic acids show up asseparate clumps in the cytoplasm. karyorrhexis
karyorrhexis [kar″e-o-rek´sis] rupture of the cell nucleus in which the chromatin disintegrates into formless granules that are extruded from the cell. adj., adj karyorrhec´tic.kar·y·or·rhex·is (kar'ē-ō-rek'sis), Fragmentation of the nucleus whereby its chromatin is distributed irregularly throughout the cytoplasm; a stage of necrosis usually followed by karyolysis. Synonym(s): karyoclasis [karyo- + G. rhexis, rupture] kar·y·or·rhex·is (kar'ē-ō-rek'sis) Fragmentation of the nucleus whereby its chromatin is distributed irregularly throughout the cytoplasm; a stage of necrosis usually followed by karyolysis. [karyo- + G. rhēxis, rupture]karyorrhexis Fragmentation of the nucleus of a cell as seen in a dead cell. |
