[′jā·dō ‚en·jən] (aerospace engineering) Derived from jet-assisted-takeoff engine. An auxiliary jet-producing unit or units, usually rockets, for additional thrust. A JATO bottle or unit; the complete auxiliary power system used for assisted takeoff.
