Jarnović, Ivan Mane

 

(also Giovanni M. Giornovicchi, Giovanni Jarnowick). Born 1740 or 1745 near Dubrovnik; died Nov. 11 (23), 1804, in St. Petersburg. Croatian violinist and composer.

Jarnović performed in several German cities and in Paris, London, and Vienna. He was a court musician in St. Petersburg from 1783 to early 1786 and again beginning in 1802. His works include seven symphonies, 20 violin concerti, and chamber music. Jarnovic produced a version of the kamarinskaia.
