Kennedy Channel

a passage between the islands of Elles-mere (Canadian Arctic Archipelago) and Greenland, connecting Baffin Bay and Lincoln Sea. Length, approximately 148 km; width, 23–55 km; depth, 150–300 m. The shores are high and steep, and there is a constant southwestern current with a speed of 20 cm per sec. The channel is jammed with drifting ice throughout the year. It was named after the English seaman W. Kennedy.
