Kennedy, Anthony M. (McLeod)

(1935– ) Supreme Court justice; born in Sacramento, Calif. He practiced law privately (1961–75) before he was named to the U.S. Court of Appeals, ninth circuit (1975). Known for his conservative views, he was named by President Reagan to the U.S. Supreme Court (1988) after the Senate refused to confirm the more controversial Robert H. Bork.
