Kamchiia
Kamchiia
a river in Bulgaria. The Kamchiia measures 245 km long and drains an area of approximately 5, 400 sq km. It is formed from the confluence of the Goliama-Kamchiia and Luda-Kamchiia rivers, which originate in the eastern spurs of the Stara Planina (Balkan Mountains). In the upper and middle courses it is a mountain-type river. In the lower course it flows along a broad marsh-ridden valley within the Longoz (Longosa) coastal plain, and empties into the Black Sea. There is high water in the winter and spring and low water in the summer and fall. The mean annual flow rate at the mouth is approximately 23 cu m per sec, with a maximum of up to 500 cu m per sec.
