(Bol’shoi Izh), a river in the Udmurt ASSR and Tatar ASSR, a right tributary of the Kama. Length, 259 km; basin area, 8,510 sq km. The river is fed primarily by snow. The average flow of water at the settlement of Lebedinoe Ozero is 34. 1 cu m per sec. The Izh freezes in the middle of November, breaking up in the middle of April. It is used to float logs and is navigable in the lower course. The city of Izhevsk is on the Izh.
