Karabakh Upland
a volcanic lava plateau in Transcaucasia (in the Azerbaijan and Armenian SSR’s) between the Zangezur and Karabakh mountain ranges.
The Karabakh Upland reaches a maximum altitude of 3, 616m at Mount Dalidag. The cones of extinct volcanoes rise abovethe surface of the plateau, reaching 3, 581 m at Mount Kyzyl-bogaz. Detritus, known as chingily, is characteristic. Much of theplateau is covered with subalpine meadow. There is livestock ranching in the area.
