Irbit Fair

Irbit Fair

one of the most important fairs in Russia, which was held annually in Irbit (Urals) beginning in the 1630’s and 1640’s. Its location on the route from the European part of Russia to Siberia gave the Irbit Fair an important role in Russian internal trade until the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railroad (late 19th and early 20th century). The Irbit Fair was second only to the one in Nizhny Novgorod in trading volume. After the October Revolution, it was held every year from 1922 to 1930.
