Kalininabad

a city in the Tadzhik SSR on the left bank of the Vakhsh River, 14 km northeast of the city of Kurgan-Tiube and 114 km southeast of Dushanbe. Population, 10, 000 (1972).

Kalininabad was established in 1956 in connection with the construction of the Head Hydroelectric Power Plant. It has plants producing nitrate fertilizer, concrete, and reinforced concrete. There is also a housing-construction combine.
