Kaliazin Petition

 

a classic of Russian satirical literature of the 17th century. The Kaliazin Petition was written in the form of a lively, graphic parody of a petition, with rhymed proverbs and sayings. It exposed the way of life of the monks of Kaliazin Monastery, located near the city of Kaliazin in present-day Kalinin Oblast.
