internal command internal commandIn DOS and Windows, a command, such as Copy, Dir and Rename, that is always available to the user. Internal commands are executed by the command processors COMMAND.COM in DOS and CMD.EXE in Windows. These files are loaded with the operating system. Contrast with an "external command," which is executed by a separate system file. In practice, there is no difference to the user whether a command is internal or external. |
