[in′tərn·əl kə′räd·əd] (anatomy) A main division of the common carotid artery, distributing blood through three sets of branches to the cerebrum, eye, forehead, nose, internal ear, trigeminal nerve, dura mater, and hypophysis. Also known as internal carotid artery.
