Insurance Delegate
in the USSR, a local trade union representative elected in all trade union groups to supervise matters dealing with state social insurance. In accordance with the Statute on Insurance Delegates, approved by the Presidium of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions on Jan. 5, 1962, insurance delegates participate in the organization of medical services available to factory workers and office employees, check on the proper issuance of medical certificates, and pay home visits to sick workers. Kolkhoz insurance delegates perform similar functions. The Statute on Kolkhoz Insurance Delegates was approved by the Union Council of Kolkhozes on Mar. 4, 1970, and by the Presidium of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions on Apr. 15,1970.
