ING2

ING2

A gene on chromosome 4q35.1 that encodes a protein thought to be involved in p53/TP53 activation and p53/TP53-dependent apoptotic pathways, probably by enhancing p53/TP53 acetylation. ING2’s activity is modulated by phosphoinositide binding; it is induced by the DNA-damaging agents such as etoposide.
ING2 is also a less preferred gene symbol for what is now designated as ING3 (see there) and INGX (see there).
