Shoulder muscle. Origin: medial two-thirds of infraspinatus fossa of scapula. Insertion: posterior side of greater tubercle of humerus. Nerve: suprascapular (C4-C6). Action: rotates arm laterally. See also: muscle

infraspinatus muscle

A muscle that runs from the back surface of the shoulder blade (SCAPULA) to the back of the upper part of the upper arm bone (HUMERUS). Its action is to rotate the arm outwards.
